History

In June 2003, the government of Trinidad and Tobago approved via Cabinet, a proposal to divest the assets of Property and Industrial Development Company of trinidad and Tobago (PIDCOTT) from Tourism and Industrial Development Company Limited (TIDCO) where they were vested or held, and create an independent entity, which would own and manage of behalf of the Government, various real estate holdings, including 17 Industrial Estates across the country, The Hilton Trinidad and Conference Centre and Tobago Hilton. Further, at a Cabinet meeting held in December 2004, the roles of the State Enterprises involved in Business Development were reviewed and rationalized and as a consequence, the role of the company was expanded.

The change in status to a Special Purpose State Enterprise as well as the subsequent expansion of PIDCOTT’s mandate warranted a change of name to reflect more precisely the company’s new vision and mission. Consequently, the Evolving TecKnologies and Enterprise Development Company Limited (e TecK) was developed to reflect the company’s focus on developing new business, particularly in the fledgling ICT and knowledge-based industries, as well as the emphasis that would be placed on developing Trinidad and Tobago’s human capital through innovative, educational and commercial initiatives and the resultant career opportunities.

e TecK is led by a president who reports to a Chairman and Board of directors, who are accountable to the Ministry of Trade and industry. The company’s mandate deliverables are driven by a Senior Management team comprised of four Vice Presidents, each responsible for a Division of operations and services : Capital Projects, Property Management, Corporate Administration and Business Development. The Departments of Corporate Communications, Financial Services and Internal Audit report to the Office of the President.
